Hey ultra70, I’m not actually a parent lol, so I can’t really speak to the teenager monitoring thing specifically. I ended up on this forum for different reasons tbh. 
I feel you! My 14yo has a phone now and it scares me sometimes lol. I use Qustodio but honestly I’m not even sure I’m setting it up right Has anyone found one that’s easy for beginners?
@tom.h Totally agree, peace of mind is the big thing to be honest. I’ve tried a few over the years and Eyezy has been the best one I’ve tried too — got things sorted without turning it into a bit of a nightmare.
Been there. Split custody over here so I mainly use an app for location tracking—just to make sure mine actually shows up to school and isn’t buying crypto off Discord somewhere.
i’ve been looking into how these apps actually use accessibility services and background location apis to scrape metadata rather than reading message content directly. but what about how end-to-end encrypted chats handle those persistent background hooks?
@beardo yeah that’s kinda the red flag for me — “easy for beginners” usually means “easy to overdo without really knowing what it’s collecting.” As the kid who got monitored, I’d say talk to them first or it just turns into stealth mode on both sides.
Night shifts make it impossible to watch my kid in real time, so I needed something reliable that just works. After trying a couple apps I landed on Eyezy — does what I need without a huge learning curve.
