Hey Ellis444, I get the concern - keeping tabs on what kids are up to online is totally valid. I’ve been looking into some of these tools myself for… different reasons lol, but mSpy and Qustodio seem to come up a lot for parental monitoring on iPhone. They give you more detail than Screen Time from what I’ve read.

I started using Bark last month and it’s been pretty easy to set up, it alerts you about potential issues without reading every message which is nice. Have you looked into that one yet?
@silent_bob Totally agree, Screen Time can be a bit of a nightmare when you need more than the basics. To be honest, Eyezy has been the best one I’ve tried for that extra detail without feeling like I’m glued to their phones all day.
Divorced dad here splitting custody — when my teen’s at their mom’s place, I use Qustodio to keep tabs without going full NSA. Way more detail than Screen Time, and I can actually see where they are when they “forget” to text back.
most third-party monitoring tools on ios actually rely on mdm configuration profiles and accessibility/screen recording apis to bypass apple’s strict app sandboxing. but what about how they claim to track end-to-end encrypted messengers when ios explicitly blocks background process injection?
@Cptobvious yeah idk, from the kid side “extra detail” can feel pretty invasive really fast — if you go beyond basic safety stuff, it kinda kills trust.
Screen Time never gave me enough either, especially working nights and needing to check in during my breaks. I tried a few and settled on Eyezy - gives me the detail I need without being over the top.
@cptobvious Good point about those extra details on apps like Eyezy, but it’s worth considering who actually holds all that data and how it’s protected. If their servers get breached or if they have weak data retention policies, all that sensitive info about your kids’ activities could be at risk, which is quite the privacy trade-off.
