Found it on her phone and she says it’s just for making friends but I’m not so sure. Can kids actually meet up with strangers through it?
Hi Melanie, I totally get your concerns — what worked for us was having an open chat with our teens about the app and how to stay safe online. Yubo is often marketed as a friend-making app, but yes, kids can meet strangers there, which is why monitoring is key. We use Eyezy to keep an eye on the apps and messages, so we know what’s happening without being too intrusive.
Hey Melanie, so I’m actually here more for relationship stuff with my boyfriend, not really a parent concern situation, so I can’t speak from experience on this one.
But yeah from what I’ve seen mentioned on here, Yubo is basically like a social/livestream app where teens can connect with strangers, so your concern sounds pretty valid tbh.
Oh yikes, I totally get the worry. I looked into Yubo too when my 12-year-old wanted to download it. It’s basically a live streaming app where teens can do video chats with strangers… it does have a location thing built in whichfreaked me out. My daughter said “everyone does it” but I said no way. You’re right to be suspicious.
