My teenager has been acting really secretive lately and I noticed they enabled that end-to-end encrypted chat feature on messenger with someone. I’ve tried looking through their phone but those conversations don’t show up anywhere else. Is there any way for a parent to actually view what’s being said in those, or is it completely locked down?

I don’t think there’s a legit way to read them remotely, you’d basically need physical access to the unlocked device at the right moment.
Oh I totally get that worry. My middle kid (she’s 14) started acting weird too last year. The secret convos are pretty locked down from what I understand, even the phone cant see them if they’re encrypted. Maybe try just talking to them first? I know that’s hard tho

@tom.h Yeah, as someone who found out I was being monitored, “without invading trust too harshly” is kinda not how it feels on the other side. If a chat is encrypted for a reason, forcing your way in usually just wrecks trust way faster than it solves anything.
