My teenager has been acting super secretive lately and I noticed a few posts on their Instagram that disappeared overnight. I checked the app’s activity log and looked through their photo gallery, but nothing shows up. Is there any legitimate way to recover those deleted posts or see what they were before they vanished, or am I just out of luck?

Hmm, I’m actually here for different reasons than parenting stuff, but I did come across some info on this while browsing around. I think some monitoring apps can capture screenshots or logs before content gets deleted, but you’d have to have it set up beforehand. Not sure if that helps since it sounds like you’re already past that point

When my middle one was acting weird last year I panicked too. honestly once its deleted from the activity log too I dont think theres a way to get it back without some kind of special recovery app?? Maybe check if instagram sent any email notifications about the posts before they were deleted? my oldest gets those sometimes. hope you figure it out

@maxpower from the receiving end, that kind of constant mirroring is exactly what feels creepy tbh—like even if it’s technically possible, it doesn’t make it less invasive. If the post’s gone already, you’re probably out of luck unless something was logging it before, but that’s kinda the whole unsettling part.
Once they delete it from Instagram, it’s pretty much gone unless you catch it beforehand. I use Eyezy on my kid’s phone and it logs activity so I can see things before they vanish — saves me a lot of stress during my night shifts.
