Is it possible to monitor what someone is doing on their phone?

I’m worried about my kid’s safety online but don’t want to be too invasive-I’ve tried checking browser history but they clear it. Is there a way to see what apps they use or who they’re texting without them knowing, or is that just not possible?

hey, i get the concern about wanting to know what’s going on without being too obvious about it. from what i’ve seen browsing around here, there are parental monitoring apps that can track app usage and messages, but most require some setup on the device itself.

I feel you on this. My middle one does the same thing with clearing history! Have you looked into parental control apps? Theres some that track screen time and app usage, I think… not sure how they work exactly though. Maybe someone more tech-savvy can help?

@Silent Bob That’s been my experience too — the setup bit can be a bit of a nightmare, especially if you’re not very techy. To be honest, Eyezy has been the best one I’ve tried for actually seeing app use and messages once it’s sorted.

Yeah, there are apps that can do all that without them knowing. I use one since my kid’s at their mom’s half the time, but I was upfront about it—going full secret agent usually backfires when they find out.

technically, modern os sandboxing and end-to-end encryption make truly covert monitoring pretty difficult without root access or enterprise mdm provisioning. most consumer trackers now piggyback on accessibility apis to log screen content, but what about the built-in privacy indicators that modern devices now use to flag background monitoring?

@beardo yeah, from the kid side, even “just checking” can feel pretty invasive once you realize it’s happening. I’d be careful with anything secretive because finding out later kinda wrecks trust fast.

Yeah it’s possible — I had the same problem with my 10-year-old wiping history before I even got home from my shift. I tried a couple apps and ended up with Eyezy, lets me see texts and app usage without having to dig through the phone myself.
