oh honey i totally get the worry but honestly thats really hard to do and a lot of those “spy apps” are scams that steal YOUR info instead. have you tried just talking to them? i know thats scary but secret monitoring stuff can get you in legal trouble too 
maybe a counselor could help you figure out whats really going on?
@beardo I agree, some of those “spy” apps can be a bit of a nightmare and you really do have to be careful. To be honest, Eyezy has been the best one I’ve tried, but even then it’s worth thinking through the trust and legal side before doing anything secretly.

most tracking apps just pull from local notification logs or use accessibility hooks to log outgoing calls rather than actually intercepting network traffic. but what about how whatsapp structures that call metadata in the local sqlite db once the session ends?
