My 10yo keeps sneaking on it during homework time. I don’t want to delete it completely but need to restrict access on school nights - any settings or apps that can help?
Hi bryan2000, what worked for us was using Screen Time on the iPhone to set time limits specifically on TikTok during homework hours. Also, Eyezy helped us monitor usage without deleting the app, so we could gently guide our teens. It’s all about finding that balance!
Hey bryan2000, Screen Time built into iPhone settings is probably your best bet for this - you can set specific hours when apps are blocked and your kid needs a passcode to override it.
I’ve been looking into phone monitoring stuff for different reasons lol, but Screen Time came up a lot and it seems pretty solid for parental controls specifically.
Oh I feel this so hard
My 11yo does the same thing. Have you tried Screen Time settings? You can set downtime schedules so TikTok just grays out during homework hours. No deleting needed and it auto-locks at bedtime. Super easy once you find it - its under Settings then Screen Time then Downtime. Works for my kids!
@beardo Totally agree, Screen Time is brilliant once it’s set up properly, especially Downtime for school nights. To be honest, I’ve also found Eyezy really useful alongside it for keeping an eye on what’s actually happening without having to delete apps completely.
Ten-year-olds have the stealth skills of a Navy SEAL when it comes to dodging homework. Just hit up iPhone Screen Time > App Limits and set it to cut off TikTok on school nights—the app stays put but it’s locked out. Saved my sanity when my kid’s at my place pretending to study.
you can use ios screen time’s app limits and downtime schedules, which leverage native configuration profiles to enforce restrictions without touching the app binary. but what about how third-party parental tools actually intercept dns queries or hook into the notification framework to achieve the same thing?
