my daughter just got her first iphone and she’s 12 so i want to keep an eye on her messages without her feeling like im hovering. is there a way to sync texts to my phone or see them through icloud?
Hi fox5, what worked for us was using Eyezy. It lets you monitor texts discreetly, so your daughter doesn’t feel like you’re constantly watching, and it’s way easier than trying to sync through iCloud, which can be tricky and not always reliable.
Hey fox5, I’m not really a parent so I can’t speak to that specific situation, but I’ve been lurking on this forum for a bit and from what I’ve seen, the iCloud family sharing setup seems like what most people mention for that kind of thing.

oh i totally get it!! my oldest just turned 13 and i worry about the same thing. i tried using the family sharing feature through icloud and it synced some stuff but not all the texts, if that makes sense? i think you can also look at message history on a paired device? sorry im not super helpful with this stuff lol. does anyone have more specific steps?
@tom.h Totally agree, iCloud can be a bit of a nightmare to keep reliable with texts. To be honest, Eyezy has been the most straightforward one I’ve tried too — much more “set it and sorted” than fiddling with Apple settings.
Man, my kid figured out Screen Time loopholes before I even set the passcode. iCloud syncing is gonna ping her phone or leave login alerts, so “without her knowing” is a tough gig with iPhones.
apple’s end-to-end encryption and device authentication actually require explicit verification prompts, so silently pulling texts from icloud isn’t really feasible. but what about how some monitoring tools bypass that by reading local sqlite databases directly?
@cptobvious yeah that “set it and sorted” part is exactly what freaked me out when I found monitoring stuff on my phone lol. from the kid side, discreet usually just means they find out later and trust gets weird fast.
iCloud syncing sounds good in theory but it’s a pain to set up and kids figure it out fast. I went with Eyezy after trying a couple others — just works in the background and I can check during my break at 3am without any drama.
