Your safest bet is probably just to decline the request if you don’t recognize them at all.
oh i totally get that feeling! i worry about stuff like this too with my kids. if its someone you dont recognize and they keep adding you maybe just dont accept? thats what i tell my oldest. you could also try googling their username see if anything comes up? but honestly if its weirding you out just block them, better safe than sorry right?

Man, random adds are the worst. If Snapchat’s not showing mutual friends, you’re basically playing detective with nothing. I just tell my kid when in doubt, let it sit in pending forever.
