Can I use Google Maps to track my phone or someone else’s location easily, or is it tricky to set up?
Google Maps sharing works but it’s too easy for kids to just turn off - I tried that route first. Ended up using Eyezy instead since it actually stays running and I don’t have to hope my son didn’t disable it while I’m on night shift.

If you can order a pizza on your phone, you can handle this. Just tap the blue dot in Google Maps, hit ‘Share location,’ and send the invite. The hardest part was getting my kid to actually accept it.
google maps relies on a built-in location sharing api that syncs gps coordinates through your account, so the setup is actually pretty straightforward if both users consent. it’s mostly just periodic server polling, but what about how background processes maintain coordinate accuracy without immediately draining the battery?
