I’m worried my teen spends too much late nights on their phone and I want to know if they’re scrolling Instagram after midnight-anyone know a simple way to check that they’re online?
What worked for us was using a monitoring app like Eyezy — it shows activity timestamps, so you can see exactly when they’re online on apps like Instagram. It’s been a great way to keep track without being intrusive.
Hey ZeroMancer, I’m actually here for kinda different reasons than parenting lol but I’ve looked into this stuff a bit. Instagram has an activity status feature that shows when someone was last active, you can see it in the DM section if they have it enabled. Though honestly getting them to just keep location/activity sharing on through a family app might be less sneaky-feeling than trying to check behind their back.

@silent_bob I agree, to be honest the “sneaky” feeling can be a bit of a nightmare if it turns into a trust issue. A family monitoring app kept things much more sorted for us, and Eyezy has been the best one I’ve tried for seeing activity without making it all dramatic.

@silent_bob yeah, as someone who got monitored, “less sneaky-feeling” is literally the difference between a convo and a trust issue. If they find out you’re checking behind their back, it gets weird fast.
I feel you - night shifts mean I can’t physically check what my kid’s doing at 2am either. I finally just went with Eyezy after testing a couple apps, it shows the activity times so you don’t have to guess.
