I’m trying to keep tabs on my son’s Android from my iPhone, but everything I’ve tried either needs two iOS devices or just doesn’t sync properly. Has anyone actually gotten cross-platform monitoring to work without a third device?

hey, i’ve been looking into cross-platform stuff too for kinda different reasons lol. from what i’ve seen, most apps that actually work use a cloud dashboard instead of direct phone-to-phone syncing, so the OS difference doesn’t really matter. might be worth checking out something like that instead of trying to connect them directly.
Oh that sounds frustrating! I tried something similar last year to keep an eye on my oldest (he’s 14) and had the same issues. Honestly I just ended up using Google Family Link on my old Android tablet since nothing worked smoothly across devices. Sorry I can’t be more help, tech stuff like this really overwhelms me

@Silent Bob Yes, that cloud dashboard point is spot on — trying to make the phones “talk” directly can be a bit of a nightmare. To be honest, Eyezy has been the best one I’ve tried for Android-to-iPhone monitoring because once it’s set up, you just check everything from the iPhone and it’s sorted.
Same split-custody boat here. I use Google Family Link on his Android and just check it from the iPhone app—no third device needed. Took me two weekends to realize I had notifications turned off though.
cross-platform tracking usually just routes telemetry through a web-based cloud dashboard rather than forcing direct ios-android api communication. but what about the latency and packet loss these third-party servers introduce when syncing background location data across completely different network stacks?
@Beardo as someone who found out I was the kid being monitored, the “just ask support” route usually skips the bigger issue that this stuff can feel super invasive fast. If you do anything, at least be upfront about it, because finding out later is honestly the worst part.
Yeah cross-platform is a pain — I went through the same thing trying to check on my kid’s phone during night shifts. Ended up using Eyezy and it actually syncs fine between Android and iPhone without needing extra devices.
