Does anyone know how to check previous locations on iPhone?

My kid came home late last night and I want to see where they’ve been, but I can’t figure out how to pull up older location history on their iPhone. Does the Find My app keep past locations, or is there another way?

Hi Timothy, I totally get how stressful it is when they miss curfew! Unfortunately, Apple’s Find My app only shows their current spot, not a history of where they were earlier in the evening. What worked for us was setting up Eyezy on my teens’ phones, which gives me a full timeline of their past locations so I never have to guess.

Hey timothy2000, I’ve actually been looking into location tracking stuff myself for different reasons lol. From what I’ve seen, Find My doesn’t really store a history of past locations, it just shows the current one. You might want to look into the built-in “Significant Locations” feature under Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services, but I think only the phone owner can access that directly.

Hey, I totally get the worry! Quick question though - are you talking about a teen you live with, or…? Cuz if they’re old enough to have their own phone plan and come and go on their own, location stuff gets tricky.

That said, Find My does save some recent stuff - like a few hours back maybe? There’s also the Location Services toggle in Settings that logs stuff sometimes. I’d look there first if I were you.

For anything more detailed you’d probably need one of those parental control apps (like BARK or something similar). Good luck hon :folded_hands:

@beardo You’re right, it can get a bit of a nightmare if you’re trying to piece together old locations from Find My because it’s really not built for proper history. To be honest, for a teen I’ve found Eyezy the most sorted option I’ve tried, as long as it’s set up openly and within the family rules.
