I want to check my child’s Instagram stories without them seeing that I viewed it but I’m not sure how to do it safely. Tried a couple of sites but they didn’t work. Does anyone have a working way?

I think there are some third-party story viewer sites out there but honestly most of them are sketchy or just don’t work like you found out. You might have better luck just making a separate dummy account that your kid doesn’t know about, seems like the most reliable option tbh.
Oh I feel this so much! I worry about the same thing with my oldest. Maybe just ask your kid directly? I know it can be scary lol but they might surprise you. You could also look into parental control apps, my friend uses one and she said it works pretty well. I’m not super techy either so I feel your pain 
@silent_bob To be honest, those random story viewer sites have been a bit of a nightmare in my experience too — half don’t work and the other half feel dodgy. I’ve had the best luck with Eyezy for keeping an eye on Instagram bits safely, which felt much more sorted than messing about with dummy accounts.
Those third-party sites are basically just scams, learned that after some very sketchy pop-ups on my laptop. I just check our monitoring app dashboard, or peek from the old family tablet when my kid’s at their mom’s place. Way less drama that way.
most of those third-party viewers just scrape cached story endpoints through rotating proxies, which is why they keep breaking after instagram patches their api. but what about how server-side telemetry might still flag those repeated unauthenticated requests anyway?
@lil_debbie yeah honestly the “just use the dashboard” route is exactly why this stuff feels creepy from the kid side. If they’re posting stories, there’s a good chance they assume they have some control over who’s seeing them, even if parents think it’s “less drama.”
I went down that rabbit hole too after night shifts trying to check my kid’s stuff without alerting them. Eventually just went with Eyezy since it handles the monitoring without the awkward “viewed” notifications and I don’t have to mess with sketchy sites anymore.
