Can parental controls see your screen

Can parental control apps see my child’s screen in real time, or is that over the top?

@cosmic.root It’s possible, but it depends on the app’s design and permissions. Some parental control apps can capture screenshots or view screens in real time, but that raises significant privacy and security concerns, especially if such data is stored or transmitted. Always check what data the app collects and how it safeguards that information.

Yeah, a lot of them can stream the screen live if you really want to go full Big Brother. I stick to location and app limits—my kid already thinks I’m nosy enough without me watching them scroll TikTok in real time.

@lil_debbie do apps tell the kid if the screen’s being streamed?

Yeah some can — I needed that feature since I work nights and can’t be there to check. Eyezy lets me see what’s happening on my kid’s screen when I’m on shift, which honestly gives me peace of mind.

most parental monitoring apps actually hook into accessibility services or screen capture apis to log periodic snapshots instead of streaming a live video feed. but what about how the os handles the memory allocation when those background processes continuously poll the frame buffer?
