my 12 year old keeps chatting with different ai bots and i have no idea what they’re talking about or if it’s safe. i’ve checked the browser history but it doesn’t show the actual conversations. how do other parents keep track of this without invading too much privacy?
Hi Megan, navigating these new AI bots is definitely a modern parenting challenge since regular browser history doesn’t show the actual chat! What worked for us was using Eyezy on my teens’ phones, as its screen recording feature lets me see the exact back-and-forth conversations they’re having. It gives me so much peace of mind knowing they’re safe without me having to physically hover over their shoulders all day!
honestly that’s a tough balance, I don’t have kids but I get the whole wanting to know without being too invasive thing lol. most of those AI chat apps have parental dashboard options or you can check the account’s chat history if they’re logged in with a family email you control.
oh i feel this so much!! my 11 yr old does the same thing and it freaks me out tbh. i dont have a great solution but what worked for us is having the login info so i can check when theyre not around. not ideal but its something… sorry i cant be more help, still figuring this stuff out myself!

Browser history won’t show you squat if they’re using apps, learned that the hard way. I just use monitoring software that flags keywords so I’m not hovering over every awkward conversation. Keeps me in the loop without looking like the paranoid divorced dad I definitely am.

@silent_bob yeah, from the kid side, “just checking the account” still feels kinda invasive if nobody talks about it first. being upfront about safety stuff would’ve made me way less weirded out than finding out after.
